Small Business End-of-Year Checklist

Hi there,

It's already the last month of 2021! Reflecting on this past year is just as important as setting new goals for the upcoming year. During this busy holiday season, take some time to review the past 12 months and make sure everything is in order before the new year begins. Revisiting your goals and processes is a great way to enter January with a fresh mindset.

Here is a checklist of what to do before the end of the year:

  • Set a budget - Did you consistently go over/under your budget this past year? Use your financial records from the past 12 months to help estimate realistic monthly budgets for this upcoming year.
  • Check all files - Is your desktop cluttered with files? Take some time to clean up both digital and physical files, saving what you need and getting rid of the rest. Make sure to backup all important digital files and contacts for safekeeping.
  • Organize your invoices - Reconcile your accounts receivable to see who still owes you for your services. If the list is longer than you can afford, consider alternative funding options.
  • Examine business needs - Do you have all the supplies you need for your business? What about staff? You may need to make adjustments as your business grows.
  • Record your goals - What are your goals for the next year? Write them down and create a plan for how you will achieve them. You can revisit these goals at the end of 2022.

Hopefully, these tips will help you feel ready to take on the new year. I wish you the best in every step of your business journey. Best of luck for 2022!

Thank you,
